After a year and a half on the road in support of his groundbreaking and critically acclaimed debut album, blkswn, the St.Louis rapper Smino released his 2018 album NOIR, which he says deals with "adult shit". He explains, "I guess growth for me means understanding shit and being able to make music intentionally", and that's just what Smino is doing. He's just dropped a fresh single 'MLK Dr', alongside a brightly animated music video. The track is fast and bouncy like the car that opens the music video. The vocal hook is ornamented with female backing vocals that glide satisfyingly in care-free emotion at the end of each line, 'Maybe we shouldn’t be getting this high, fuck it I wanna jus jump thru the sky'.
